What to Expect from the Dog While Training
If you have never used a barking dog collar before, you might not know what to expect. In being well prepared for how your dog will respond to this new method of training, will help the process along. Not only will it be easier for the dog owner, but it will be easier for the dog as well. The dog does not know what to expect and may have difficult understanding what is expected of them. In knowing how to respond to the dog, you will be helping to keep the dog calm and to faster understand what you want to achieve.

I. Initial Reaction to Correction

Keep in mind the first time your dog receives the initial static correction that the dog is completely unaware of what is going to happen. Do not be alarmed when the dog yelps or jumps, as the dog is just startled by this new sensation and is not in paint. The barking dog collar is designed to get the dog’s immediate attention and not to hurt the dog. The dog’s first reaction to the corrective pulse will always be his most intense, but this reaction will lessen and the dog will learn that barking is the cause. It is important that the dog owner be present when the dog experiences the activated collar, as this will help in keeping the dog calm and focused on the training.

II. First Week of Training

It will not take long at all to notice an improvement in the dog’s barking habits. This can be seen during the first week. It is at this point that many dog owners feel that the problem as been solved and in some cases this could be true, but in most cases this it not. Training takes time and many dogs will attempt to test this new learning experience. Since barking is a natural form of communication for a dog, it is expected for the dog to try to get away with it. It is the excessive and inappropriate barking you wish to stop, and not all barking all together. This testing period usually occurs during the second week of the training. As this happens you must remain consistent to get the results you want.

III. Continued Training

Even after the dog is trained, it is still necessary for the dog to wear the barking dog collar in every situation you wish the dog to remain quiet. If the dog spots a squirrel or the neighbor’s dog through a window, the instinct to bark is still there. If this is a time you do not want the dog to bark and the collar is not being worn, setbacks in the training will occur. The dog has no way of knowing for sure when it is ok to bark and when it is not, even after training. Wearing the collar will become a signal for the dog to be aware that this is not the time for barking. Continuing to use the collar will prevent the dog from reverting back to their old habits.
